Westringia fruticosa `Smokey`

Westringia fruticosa `Smokey` is a compact, medium-sized native shrub with soft grey and white variegated foliage. Its naturally compact habit makes this plant ideal for hedging, trim to create a formal hedge or leave natural for informal hedges. The small white flowers bloom throughout the year with the main flush of flowers in late winter and spring. Smokey is best suited to well-drained soils in a sunny position in the garden. Like most Westringia it grows well in coastal gardens and is salt tolerant.


Height & Width

If left unpruned it will grow - 1 to 1.5 metres X 1 to 1.3 metres. When hedging they can be kept as low as 50 cm X 50 cm.

Wide range of free draining soils.

Maintenance

If left unpruned very little maintenance is needed, if hedging trim very few months to train to shape after which pruning can be 3 to 4 times a year as needed.
